Very delicate, fan-shaped fronds. Stems are shiny and black, with light green lacy leaves. Slowly spreads to form a rounded medium-sized clump.

Asplenium scolopendrium
Has an unusual, almost tropical appearance, with wide leathery green fronds that are strap-shaped. Plants form a low clump, best suited to the rock garden or for edging in a moist woodland garden. Excellent drainage is required, and a limestone-based soil is best, rather than acidic.

Osmunda r. 'Purpurascens'
A majestic garden fern, Osmunda regalis 'Purpurascens' (Royal Fern) is a tall, robust, deciduous fern of upright, vase shape habit, forming a large rosette of elegant, broadly divided fronds. Emerging reddish-purple in spring, their lovely foliage matures to bright green in summer before turning shades of gold and russet in fall, adding visual interest in the garden.
